The two people found dead in a Maplewood motel room were a couple from Wisconsin in their 20s, police said Thursday.
They were identified as Zoua Vang, 27, of Osseo, Wis., and Tou Chang Xiong, 24, of La Crosse.
The causes and the manners of their deaths were pending completion of toxicology testing after autopsies by the Ramsey County medical examiner's office.
Police Chief Paul Schnell said officers received a welfare check call about 2 p.m. after someone at the Northernaire Motel off W. Maplewood Drive looked in a room and saw two people "appear to be unresponsive."
Schnell said the bodies showed no obvious signs of trauma.
