Entering 2016, Cordarrelle Patterson was ready to get out of Minnesota after he had been phased out of Norv Turner's old-school offense and after the Vikings opted to not pick up his team option for 2017.

But Turner started to use him again a few weeks into the 2016 season. The wide receiver's role remained large after Turner quit in early November and Pat Shurmur started calling the plays. Patterson, who liked the new offensive coordinator's style, went on to catch a career-high 52 passes.

Suddenly, Patterson was open to remaining with the Vikings, the team that traded a few picks to snatch him in the first round back in 2013.

Of course, he also hoped to cash in during his first shot at free agency.

Five days after NFL teams could first contact the agents of pending free agents and after official visits to Washington and Chicago, Patterson, who is scheduled to head to Oakland at some point, remains unsigned. While big bucks got tossed at offensive linemen when free agency officially started Thursday, it so far has not been kind to the wide receivers.

So after visiting Chicago (and after the Bears signed wide receiver Kendall Wright instead), Patterson took to Snapchat, the social media app, to tell GM Rick Spielman that he wants to come back. I'm too old for Snapchat, but thankfully the fine Vikings blog, Daily Norseman, has the NSFW quotes.

The gist: "All I am hearing is stay with the Vikings!! Trust me I want to"

I know Spielman is covertly on Twitter, but I'm not sure about Snapchat. I'm going to assume Patterson's agent has told Spielman all of this, too. We shall see if Spielman indicates that the feeling is mutual by giving the two-time Pro Bowl return specialist a contract offer he would accept.
