TOURNAMENT TIDBITS

• Brotherly love is everywhere at Maple Grove and St. Thomas Academy. Todd Bergland, coach of the Crimson, is one of three brothers to bring a team to the hockey state tournament. His brothers, Tim and Scott, both directed Thief River Falls to the Class 1A tournament in 2016. At St. Thomas Academy, co-head coaches and brothers Greg and Tom Vannelli have three sets of brothers in their program: Rob and Ben Stucker, Rob and Ray Christy, and Luke and Will Herzog.

• When former Wild head coach Mike Yeo took a job at St. Louis, it marked the first time in his career that his wife, Tanya, and his two children did not move with him when he changed jobs. Son Kyler wanted to finish high school at Hill-Murray. The senior co-captain has 15 goals and 21 assists and helped the Pioneers to the state tournament. "I'm extremely excited for him," Yeo said earlier this week. "It has been a challenge this year, and it will continue to be a challenge to be away from my family, but I think this sort of justifies the decision."
