Just over a week before Election Day, the city still needs approximately 300 more election judges.

City Clerk Casey Carl said that they are particularly interested in finding judges that speak Spanish, Somali and Hmong. More than 1,100 people have already signed up.

Judges must be eligible to vote in Minnesota, willing to attend a training class on Nov. 1 and able to work a full-day or part-time shift on Nov. 5.

The city is hiring extra election judges this year, anticipating that they will be needed to help with the first major use of ranked-choice voting in Minneapolis.

Carl said some of the judges they take on will be on "stand-by" and called in depending on the turnout.
