Credentials: 762 HRs, seven MVPs, eight Gold Gloves, 1.051 career OPS.

PED link: Claimed he unwillingly took steroids; a book detailed much more elaborate use.

SAMMY SOSA

Credentials: 609 HRs, one MVP.

PED link: Claimed he never took PEDs, but was one of more than 100 players to test positive in 2003.

RAFAEL PALMEIRO

Credentials: 569 HRs, three Gold Gloves.

PED link: Denied use of PEDs during a 2005 Congressional hearing but then tested positive for stanozolol later that year.

MARK MCGwire

Credentials: 583 HRs, including 70 in one season.

PED link: One of Bash Brothers with Jose Canseco in Oakland. Denied PED use for years before admitting to it in 2010.

JEFF BAGWELL

Credentials: 449 HRs, .408 career OBP, one MVP.

PED link: Admitted to taking androstenedione and creatine when they weren't banned. The rest is suspicion.

MIKE PIAZZA

Credentials: .308 career average, 427 HRs mainly as a catcher.
