Right tackle Mike Remmers, another key Vikings player, was held out of Thursday's practice because of illness. He had practiced Wednesday without being listed on the injury report.

Defensive end Stephen Weatherly, also dealing with an illness, returned to practice.

For the Lions, guard T.J. Lang (fibula) returned to practice and was a full participant. Defensive end Ezekiel Ansah (knee) was limited. Receiver Kenny Golladay (knee) did not practice.

A top WR tandem?

Vikings receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs aren't pumping up their own hype train as they currently rank No. 2 and 3, respectively, in NFL receiving yards through three weeks with 299 and 293, respectively.

They're the first NFL duo to rank in the top three in receiving yards after three weeks since 2000, when the St. Louis Rams' "Greatest Show On Turf" featured Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce at receiver. So are they one of the league's best tandems?

"It's real early to say all that," Diggs said. "We're on to the next game right now. As far as best receiving duo, we ain't worried about that. [Thielen] is definitely doing some great things out there, though."

Familiar foes

For the first time in coordinator Mike Priefer's 16 NFL seasons coaching special teams, he will face a kicker and punter on Sunday whom he has both coached previously.

Lions kicker Matt Prater, previously with Priefer in Denver, and punter Jeff Locke, the Vikings' fifth-round pick in 2013, will present familiar challenges for the Vikings. Prater has made three winning kicks against the Vikings (2011, 2014 and 2016) since Priefer's arrival.
