Matt Capps returned to the disabled list Tuesday after irritating his right rotator cuff during Monday's game against the Orioles.

General Manager Terry Ryan said the Twins will announce a corresponding roster move soon.

Capps was on the DL from June 24 through last Friday with right shoulder inflammation. He made two appearances after returning, but his velocity was down.

The team has shown it can get by with Jared Burton and Glen Perkins handling the ninth-inning, but this news lessens the chances that the Twins will be able to trade Capps this season.

Tonight's game

After scoring a season-high 19 runs Monday, the Twins are going with the same lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Orioles.

If it's not broken...

Jim Thome is back in the lineup for the Orioles, batting third. This is a big game for Baltimore after falling out of the lead for the second wild-card spot on Monday.

Zach Britton will be making his first start of the season. The lefthander had a solid rookie season last year, going 11-11 with a 4.61 ERA, including 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA in two starts against the Twins.

A left shoulder injury kept Britton on the disabled list to start the season, and the Orioles made him prove his way back through the minors. In his last eight starts for Class AAA Norfolk, Britton went 5-1 with a 3.47 ERA.

The Twins counter with righthander Samuel Deduno, who is making his second start with the team.

Stat of the day: Monday's 19-7 win gave a boost to the Twins sorrowful run differential. They're still at a major league worst -89, meaning they've allowed 89 more runs than they've scored, but that number was -101 entering Monday. The Orioles might be three games over .500, but they actually have the second-worst run differential in the AL, at -55.
