KING CITY, Calif. — A rural California police chief who was arrested along with two other officers on suspicion of selling or giving away impounded cars says the charges against him and other members of the force are baseless.
Bruce Edward Miller, who was removed as chief of the King City police force, said Wednesday that his family has received death threats since authorities disclosed details of the case.
Miller and two other officers have each been charged with bribery, accepting a bribe or embezzlement in the alleged scheme.
Monterey County prosecutors announced the charges on Tuesday.
