I snagged Brent Burns after, and he was like, "Really? Wow. Cool. I had no idea."

For two years, Burns was tied with Marian Gaborik for first in franchise history with four overtime winners. Now he's got five, the winner coming tonight from the left circle on a whistling one-timer off a Pierre-Marc Bouchard setup.

"Real gutsy, gritty win," said Burns. "Lots of guys made some huge plays. Zans had some big blocks, Chucky [Kobasew] had some huge blocks. You've got guys on their team chirping, and Nys (Eric Nystrom) steps right up and does a great job. Stauby (Staubitz) does a great job. It was a pretty gutsy win and it feels pretty good."

No kidding. The Wild won its second in a row in an arena where the Los Angeles Kings had lost twice in the previous 13 home games. In the first 13 home games, the Kings had given up one power-play goal.

This one came after Chuck Kobasew drew a Drew Doughty interference minor in OT seconds after Jose Theodore stone-cold robbed Dustin Brown. The Wild only gave up 26 shots in the game, but Theo had to come up huge several times, especially because the Wild almost ruined the game by taking penalty after penalty.

"I was really focused tonight," said Theodore.

The Wild took nine minors in all, six in the final 30 minutes after taking a 2-1 lead on two gifts wrapped by Jonathan Quick.

"I got to be better and I can't make those mistakes," said Quick, who's had an outstanding season, by the way.

But the Wild, thanks to Theodore's saves and several gutsy blocked shots (Greg Zanon, Kobasew, etc.), held the Kings to only one power-play goal -- the tying goal.

"But we battled," coach Todd Richards said. "I'll tell you what, guys put it on the line."

Zanon had six of the Wild's 14 blocked shots in the game, and said he was physically fine afterward. Kobasew also said he was fine after blocking a shot on the laces. Kobasew had a real good game.

It was fitting that Burns scored. He was outstanding the first two periods, especially in the first when he played 9:32 of his 28:15 minutes, playing physically, leading counter-attacks and supporting Nick Schultz.

Mikko Koivu had a solid game and scored a shorthanded goal -- again handed to him by Quick -- and Cal Clutterbuck scored his team-leading eighth goal after another Quick mistake and six monsterous hits. Koivu's shorty was the eighth of his career, moving him into second in franchise history -- six behind Wes Walz.

Todd Richards said after the game the Wild likely won't have John Madden or Matt Cullen again in Anaheim. Sunday's game will be interesting. They play at 5 p.m. local or about 17 hours after they get to their Anaheim hotel tonight. This is a tired, banged-up team, one that had to spend time killing nine penalties tonight.

Can the Wild suck it up and pull off a 3-0 road trip? We will find out.

Most the follow up stuff from this game will be in Monday's paper, especially on Burns' OT winner. I'll talk to you Sunday night -- no morning skate obviously
