A Sunday morning collision between two boats on Lake Minnetonka tossed a toddler overboard and injured another child.

A runabout and a pontoon boat, both approximately 22 feet long and traveling in the same direction, collided about 10 a.m. when they were 200 yards from shore on Wayzata Bay, said Lisa Kiava of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

A 2-year-old boy wearing a life jacket was thrown into the water, but his father was able to pull him back into the boat, she said. A 7-year-old on the other boat suffered a minor head injury. A woman suffered a cut foot.

The runabout had four people on board and there were five people on the pontoon boat, said Kiava. The pontoon boat sustained damage to its fiberglass. Both boats returned to the dock.

Wayzata Fire and the Sheriff's Office responded to the collision. The Sheriff's Office is investigating.
