A manicurist who brought notes to a professional exam was fined $500, according to an order by the Minnesota Board of Cosmetologist Examiners this month. Jennifer Hue Doan, formerly Hue Doan Gherity, of St. Paul, took the Minnesota State Salon Manager licensing exam in September 2010. Afterward, the proctor noticed Doan had written information on her hand. Doan's test results were deemed fraudulent, the order stated. Doan has been licensed as a manicurist since 2006. She can get a four-year license as a salon manager if she properly completes the exam and application, but she would not be able to work as a manager the first year because her license would remain suspended for that period, according to the order.
