Fans of hop-heavy beers should clear out their calendar Saturday night. For the fourth year, the Blue Nile in south Minneapolis is turning over its tap lines to those tongue-biting bitter brews. The event, "Hop Heads Only Vol. 4," starts at 4 p.m. and runs till about 9 p.m. on Saturday. Bartender/beer boss Al McCarty (pictured) has done a great job with these total tap takeovers during the past few years (he's had a stout night, a Belgian night, etc.). The focused line-up is great for both connoisseurs and craft beer novices. Beer geeks will get a chance to taste some rare suds, while newbies can work on expanding their palate.

McCarty doesn't have a monster tap system like other beer bars, but he's one of the best at curating his beer menu over 12 taps. Here are some of the beers you can expect for Saturday night (click to read about each beer): Surly Abrasive Ale, Bell's HopSlam Ale, Epic Hopulent, Southern Tier Unearthly, Boulder Mojo Risin', He'brew Hop Manna, Leinenkugel's Big Eddy Imperial IPA, Odell The Myrcenary, Stone IPA, Summit Saga, Lucid Camo, Founders Double Trouble.

My suggestion: Order a flight so you can taste more (three 4-oz pours for $7).
