It's hard to say which is the bigger deal this weekend: the Minnesota lake or the Minnesota fisherman.

The lake, Mille Lacs, is giving up stunning bags of big bass during the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship, the season-ending event on the world's most prominent bass-fishing circuit.

And the fisherman, Seth Feider of Bloomington, is catching more big ones than anyone else and leads the tournament heading into the final day of fishing Sunday.

The 50 contestants for the circuit's championship event have turned in 47 five-bass limits weighing 20 pounds or more in two days. Before this weekend, the most 20-pound bags on the circuit this season was 35, caught over twice as much time by more than twice as many anglers, at Toledo Bend Reservoir in Texas.

Feider has an armada of friends following him as he fishes and sounding an air horn when he catches. It's no distraction. "I'm having a blast," he said.
