More traffic messes are kicking in soon all across the south metro, from the Bloomington Ferry Bridge in the west to I-35E in the east, state officials warn.

In the west, motorists may notice as soon as this weekend some temporary off-peak lane closures on Hwy. 169 in preparation for a titanic disruption launching July 26: the throttling down to just one way each direction of an already badly congested Ferry Bridge.

For two weeks leading up to then, crews will build crossovers that motorists will use when the real Carmageddon begins.

This week, meanwhile, in Dakota County, northbound 35E ramps to and from Cedar Avenue will close.

On Wednesday, crews will shift north- and southbound traffic on 35E between Cedar and Diffley Road to the southbound side. It will stay single lane to the 35W/35E split all through July.
