With cold weather forecast, the Division III playoff opener between Bethel and St. Scholastica was moved to the Metrodome (noon kickoff). That is likely to make the two schools the answer to this future trivia question: Who played in the final college game in the Metrodome?

The Dome is coming down after the Vikings finish their season. The Gophers moved from the Dome to TCF Bank Stadium before the 2009 season.

The two teams playing Saturday are becoming regulars in postseason competition. Bethel, 10-0 and the MIAC champion, is appearing in its eighth Division III playoff since 2000. It was originally going to host the game. St. Scholastica, which started its football program in 2008, has won three consecutive UMAC titles and is making its third postseason appearance in a row.

Both teams have talented quarterbacks who figure to be happy about the move indoors. Tyler Harper (DeLaSalle) has completed 129 of 217 passes with 16 TD for St. Scholastica while Erik Peterson of Bethel has completed 181 of 266 passes while throwing for 19 TDs.
