More than 250 runners of all ages came out to Woodbury's Colby Lake on Aug. 17 for the first "5K for Dani J," to honor Danielle Jelinek and raise funds for the Domestic Abuse Project. This event was held to honor, celebrate and remember Jelinek's life. A dedicated runner despite having asthma who frequently took her runs around Colby Lake, she grew up in Cottage Grove and lived in Oakdale before she disappeared in December. Her body was found five months later, and an exact cause of death is still being determined. Jelinek's family hopes to make the run an annual event.
