The Dakota County Historical Society is accepting applications through March 31, 2016, for a juried arts competition based on original embroidery designs from the Hastings Needle Work Co.

Hastings Needle Work was in operation from 1888 to the mid-1920s and produced unique embroidery pieces for their clients.

Original patterns from the collection of the Minnesota Historical Society are available for the challenge. Any media may be used to interpret the design.

The accepted art pieces will be sent to the Le Duc Historical Estate at 1629 Vermillion St. in Hastings ahead of the exhibition, which is set to open in June 2016.
