Probably a sign that the success of "Anvil" the movie hasn't completely spilled over onto Anvil the band -- or maybe just proof that these guys love to play anytime, anywhere -- the stars of the hit rockumentary about an obscure veteran metal group are coming to town for an in-person example of their unstoppable power.

Band members Steve (Lips) Kudlow, Robb Reiner and Glenn (G5) Five are booked to play a short set after a screening tonight at the Uptown Theater (7:15 p.m., 2906 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., $7-$9). This live gig is actually not an unusual thing for the theater, which hosts local bands before many of its midnight movies. Next weekend's 25th anniversary screenings of "The Terminator" will include sets by dance-rock sextet Military Special on Friday and the Guns N' Roses cover band Snakes N' Barrels on Saturday (midnight next Friday and May 16, $7-$9).
