Here's some good news for commuters and those who use Hwy. 5/W. 7th Street to get to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Starting Monday, all lanes in both directions on the Hwy. 5 bridge over the Mississippi River will be open for morning and evening rush hours, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

Since spring, the westbound lane has been closed and single-lane traffic was allowed on the eastbound side of the bridge. While all lanes will be open from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays, drivers will find right lane closures in both directions daily between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily, MnDOT said.

That will be the case until November or until the entire $13.8 million is complete.

A few ramps will remain closed, including the ramp from Shepard Road ramp to westbound Highway 5.

Over the past two years, MnDOT has been reconstructing the Hwy. 5 bridge deck, repairing the Mississippi River Boulevard/Shepard Road bridge decks over Hwy. 5, the Edgcumbe Road bridge deck over Hwy. 5 and repairing on Hwy. 5 between the Mississippi River Boulevard and Munster Avenue.
