A man wanted in a driveby shooting death fled more than 1,000 miles only to be hunted down and arrested with his girlfriend at her mother's home in St. Cloud.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service and other law enforcers arrested Laron L. Lukes, 39, on Wednesday on a warrant out of Huntsville, Ala., that accuses him of shooting Pedro Love, 33, in the chest multiple times on Nov. 12.

Also arrested at the home in the 400 block of 8th Avenue N. was Eleana M. Ghant, 31. Ghant is accused of fleeing Alabama with Lukes to her mother's apartment after the killing. The two were taken into custody without incident, authorities said.

Ghant also has outstanding warrants in central Minnesota for traffic violations and first-degree criminal damage to property.
