A New Hope man believed to be a member of a street gang was charged Thursday with allegedly threatening a Minneapolis police officer over social media.

Trevor Deontre Schlotfeldt-Gidney, 22, allegedly made the threats on Facebook after the off-duty officer would not allow Young N' Thuggin' (YNT) gang members into a nightclub. He is charged with felony terroristic threats and remains in the Hennepin County jail in lieu of $200,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 17.

According to charges, the officer denied entrance to the alleged YNT members Oct. 8 because of recent shootings in the area.

Afterward, police noted a series of postings and video shared online, which referred to the police officer as "12" and that he "won't let Gang in the Club." A Facebook post by Schlotfeldt-Gidney allegedly called out the officer by name, threatened him, included images of a middle finger, police officer, explosion, and wrote that someone "need to wack his [expletive] ass."

The officer said the postings were a threat to his safety. Schlotfeldt-Gidney has had a number of contacts with Minneapolis police, charges said. He was convicted last year of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
