Every weekday, we walk you through what's going on with the Vikings.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— Defensive end Everson Griffen and defensive tackle Tom Johnson have been one of the NFL's most productive pass-rushing end-tackle duos.

— When the Vikings start taking their deep dive into the Rams today, they are going to realize that they are close to a mirror image of them.

— Two Vikings players are up for weekly NFL awards after they played prominent roles in the comeback victory over the Bears on Sunday.

— Former Vikings linebacker Fred McNeil has died after a battle with ALS.

— In this week's Access Vikings podcast, we broke down the win over the Bears, discussed the struggles of young quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and tried to figure out what we are to make of this 5-2 team.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

— Former Vikings running back Herschel Walker stopped by the Rams facility and compared star rookie Todd Gurley to the great Gale Sayers.

— Rams defensive tackle Nick Fairley has started to get a significant role.

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

The Vikings are back in the building today to start preparing for the Rams. Coach Mike Zimmer and Bridgewater will be up on the podium after the morning walkthrough. Practice is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Much is going to be made, and rightfully so, about the "matchup" between Gurley and 30-year-old running back Adrian Peterson. But Sunday's game will also pit two of the frontrunners for the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award up against each other. Diggs has been one of the NFL's biggest surprises this season, coming out of nowhere for 25 catches for 419 yards and two touchdowns. But Gurley has been maybe even more impressive, averaging 6.1 yards per carry while rushing for 575 yards and three scores. If they keep it up, they will be in the conversation for the OROY award, along with Raiders wideout Amari Cooper, who we'll see next weekend.
