A gift for Gaga When a musician or band plays at Xcel Energy Center, they are typically presented with a gift -- most often a Minnesota Wild jersey.

In anticipation of style icon Lady Gaga's performances next week, Xcel officials took a more fashion-forward approach and commissioned local designer Emma Berg to create a piece that references Minnesota. Berg's design used the state flower, the showy lady's slipper, as her inspiration. She ended up with a crinkled white satin jacket with a "skirt" of pink organza and yellow satin lining.

Berg even considered how the jacket might pair with Gaga's own outrageous sense of style. "The length is a good height, so that if she wanted to wear it with no pants it would be cute," she said.

Amanda Christine fall runway show For her fall 2010 collection, local designer Amanda Christine demonstrates how she's stayed in business for four years: by keeping true to her feminine roots.

"It's a little French-themed, really girly and a little bit tough at the same time," she said of the collection, which will be featured in a Thursday night runway show.

The show also will feature a short segment from Cliché and a handbag collaboration with Kjurek Couture. "It's really fun to mesh our two styles together," said the designer. "A little edgy and girly, but boho at the same time."

Amanda Christine is available in more than 25 boutiques worldwide.

Fashion Show, 7 p.m. Thur., Nicollet Island Pavilion, 40 Power St., Mpls., $20 at the door. Clothes available at Cliché, 2403 Lyndale Av. S., www.clichempls.com; Karma, 867 Grand Av., St. Paul, 651-291-1997 and Parc, 328 E. Hennepin Av., Mpls, 612-353-4966.

Now open: Bluepeg Romance is thriving at 50th and France. Bluepeg, a new men's store, is the joint effort of real-life couple Sacha Martin (co-owner of Bluebird and Ladyslipper boutiques) and Adam Tischler.

The name of the store refers to the duo's first date more than two years ago. When Adam was courting Sacha, he suggested they meet at a spot near his place. She informed him that in "the game of 'Life,' the blue peg was always in the driver's seat and the pink peg was always in the passenger's seat."

He changed plans and now their styles have merged at Bluepeg.

The store features denim from J. Brand and Postage, plaid shirts from Zachary Prell, oversized watches by Nixon, chunky sweaters by Vince, work boots by Wolverine and snazzy ties from local label Pierrepont Hicks.

Bluepeg, 4946 France Av. S, Edina, 952-847-4777. Grand opening party: 6 to 9 p.m. Thur.
