Investigators were working Friday to determine what led to a two-car crash in St. Paul Thursday afternoon that killed a 93-year-old St. Paul woman.

Officers were called to the intersection of E. 3rd and Earl Streets about 12:15 p.m. on Thursday. They found two vehicles that had crashed on the northeastern corner of the intersection.

One vehicle was traveling north on Earl Street while the other vehicle was eastbound on E. 3rd when they collided, police said. The impact of the collision sent one vehicle into a bus stop bench at the intersection and the second into a tree.

None of the three adults in the first vehicle was injured, but the second vehicle's driver and two passengers were taken to United Hospital with injuries.

Among those injured was front-seat passenger Marion Bertella Krey, who later died.

The exact cause of her death will be determined by the Ramsey County medical examiner.
