Congestion refuses to loosen on mainline highways and freeways as the rush hour moves into its late stages. Motorists are still encountering hour trips from the outer suburbs into the downtowns, and spinout continue to litter the roads.


Metro Transit says nearly half of its routes are running up to 8 minutes late as of 8:30 a.m.


Major delays remain in place on southbound 494 through Plymouth and Maple Grove and on eastbound 94 from Woodbury to Minneapolis. Highway 100 is near gridlock in both directions from Duluth Street to Crosstown, with a crash on the northbound side at 36th Street.


Northbound 35W is plugged from County Road 42 to the Crosstown and northbound 35 in Lakeville is at a standstill at 210th Street to Crystal Lake Road in Burnsville.
