A second man has died after a crash involving a driver who authorities say had been drinking before his car crossed into the opposite lane and hit another car head-on in southeast Minnesota.

Matthew P. Isaacs, 29, of Rochester, the driver of the other car, died Monday at St. Marys Hospital following the Dec. 29 late-night crash south of Stewartville on Hwy. 63.

Dead at the scene was David E. Rettman, 61, of Gibbon, Minn. The patrol said alcohol use by Rettmann was detected.

Rettmann was driving south on Hwy. 63, crossed into the northbound lane and collided with Isaacs' car, the patrol said.

Isaacs' wife, Rebecca L. Isaacs, 29, and passenger Marquetta C. Palmer, 17, suffered noncritical injuries and were hospitalized.
