Two bodies were found in a northern Minnesota home that had been engulfed by fire, authorities said.

The blaze struck about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at a single-family house on Hwy. 71 west of Northome, according to the Koochiching County Sheriff's Office.

Identities of the deceased have yet to be confirmed, the Sheriff's Office said. The circumstances of how the fire began still are under investigation.

The property is set back from the highway and is about 70 miles southwest of International Falls.
