A man and a woman from Hastings were arrested Monday in connection with the hit-and-run death of 10-year-old Caylin Donovan near Lake Mille Lacs.
The suspects were arrested after "a tip from the public," according to the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. They were taken to the Aitkin County jail to await criminal charges.
Caylin of Lake Park, Minn., was hit and killed just before 8 p.m. June 10 while walking on Hwy. 18 near the lake, about 10 miles from Garrison, Minn.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the State Patrol at 218-316-3025.
Authorities also are seeking the public's help in finding a vehicle involved in a separate hit-and-run in Aitkin County the same day. Margaret Ann Johnson, 85, was hit and killed near her mailbox on the shoulder of Hwy. 47, about 3½ miles east of Aitkin. Anyone who saw Johnson near her mailbox between noon and 1 p.m. that day is asked to call the State Patrol at 218-316-3026 or the sheriff at 218-927-7435.
