Three people were found shot to death late Friday in a home in Chetek, in northwestern Wisconsin.

The Barron County Sheriff's Department said a female called 911 at 9 p.m. Deputies went to the house, where they found the bodies of John Hengst, 55; Brenda Turner, 55, and Natalie Turner, 17. Hengst and Turner divorced in August 2016; Hengst was Natalie's stepfather.

"Initial investigation shows that all three people in the house suffered gunshot wounds," said Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said.

He stressed "there is no danger to the public," a police statement often used in cases of murder-suicide. Several firearms were found in the house, Fitzgerald told the Chetek Alert newspaper He said he had listened to the recording of the 911 call. "It's heartbreaking," he said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and the Chetek community affected by this tragedy."
