Another taproom is set to open in Minneapolis, this time in the Loring Park neighborhood on July 11th at noon. Sisyphus Brewing plans to sell its beer exclusively in their taproom without growler sales on Fridays and Saturdays from noon till 1 AM. Some of the advantages to this model are that the quality of the product is much easier to control and they will not incur the costs involved with purchasing and filling growlers.
A mural adorning the building facing the I-94/394 interchange will be created by both Josh “Jawsh” Lemke and Adam Turman—two high profile local artists who are well known in the local brewing and art communities. This will be possible because of a Kickstarter campaign they ran back in May that raised over $8,000, more than $2,000 over their initial goal.
The plan is to create a variety of unique beers that will be rotated frequently and to educate beer drinkers on the different styles and ingredients that go into making it. The taproom will also feature a 100 seat theater for music and stand up comedy, a passion of co-owner Samuel Harriman’s.
Both Sam and his wife (co-owner) Catherine are excited to start this new adventure. “We are so excited that our opening date is nearly upon us,” said Sisyphus Brewing founder Samuel Harriman. “We are so inspired by the great variety of beers out there, and we can’t wait to share the best of what is out there with our customers. Our goal at Sisyphus Brewing is to take the experience we had touring the best taprooms in the country and replicate it under our roof. We think beer is a community experience, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the Minnesota beer community.”
Let’s just say that I’m a bit excited for the opportunity to enjoy a little comedy with a pint of beer.
On Saturday Uppercut Boxing Gym will be hosting a beer tasting, art show, and fundraiser called Posters and Pints at 6 PM featuring some of the best beer and artwork in town. The cost will be $20 to enter (beer samples included) with a portion going to Art Buddies, a group committed to mentoring urban youth. Artists such as Jawsh Lemke of Surly Darkness fame, CHUX, Adam Turman, David Witt and many others will be selling limited edition posters here as well for $30 a piece.
Some of the breweries that will be pouring 3 oz samples (included in your $20 ticket price) will be Surly, Steel Toe, Dangerous Man, 612 Brew, Lake Monster, Fulton, Indeed, Summit, Lift Bridge, Tin Whiskers, Boom Island, and Day Block. Check out the program listing all the beers available here.
Food trucks will also be present with a lineup of Nate Dogs, Borough, Aki’s Bakery, and Gastro Truck. Food of course will be sold separately and is not included in the ticket price.
If you plan to buy tickets the day of the event they are only accepting plastic. Plan ahead and grab your tickets here if you don't like lines.
