I know this is the United States of America ("land of the free and the home of the brave"), but someone should not be able to jump a fence, run across the lawn and make it over 150 feet inside the White House, before being stopped by security.

Troubling new details were reported late this afternoon about a recent intruder at the White House. Omar J. Gonzalez made it much farther into the White House on September 19, when he jumped the fence, ran across the lawn and entered the White House through the unlocked North Portico doors.

From the Associated Press:

Secret Service Director Julia Pierson is scheduled to tesify tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee about the recent security breach at the White House. The headlines generated by this major security breach will likely trigger millions of dollars to be spent upgrading the existing security measures at the White House.

But before the government starts spending the money, someone should start locking all the doors at the White House.
