It seems like just yesterday a group of Master Gardeners were sitting in the tiny conference room of the extension offices dreaming up the first garden tour. So many great ideas, so much energy and a whole lot of determination has come together in the past five years to make our garden tour such a hit. Each year we strive to make it bigger and better. We iron out glitches and try new strategies. Sounds kind of like gardening, huh?

University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners in Hennepin County 2012 Learning Garden Tour Don't miss the annual Hennepin County Master Gardener Learning Garden Tour on July 14 from 9 am to 4 pm! Visit eleven beautiful Minneapolis area gardens, designed and maintained by Master Gardener volunteers. This tour offers an exciting array of garden styles and techniques, all located within a convenient route. From adorable cottage to grand estate there's inspiration and information for everyone on a variety of topics. Here's just a sampling…. · Seed Trial Gardens · Low-Mow to No-Mow Lawns · Vegetable Growing Strategies · Rain gardens and rain barrels · Shoreline Restoration · Landscaping with Native Plants · Creating Outdoor Rooms · Benefits of Living Mulch Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer all gardening questions. On-site demonstrations provide an educational dimension, for both beginning and advanced gardeners, not found on other garden tours. The popular Garden Shed boutique will feature garden related crafts, concrete leaves and stepping-stones, gardening books and other items. Price: Tickets are $15 per person prior to the event, $20 the day of the tour. Tickets can be ordered online with a credit card at www.hennepinmastergardeners.org.
