YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is offering up a warning to potential fugitives to surrender and avoid trouble before another warrant sweep begins.
The "intensive" sweep, which is expected to take place until the end of this month, will focus on the arrests of adults and juveniles who are wanted on active warrants. Priorities include juveniles and felony arrests, according to a news release.
The sweep follows Operation Year End Clearance, a similar sweep conducted in December that yielded hundreds of warrants and focused on sex offender registration, domestic violence and drunken driving cases.
Several additional deputies will be freed to dedicate their time to clearing warrants, and the Sheriff's Office is teaming with other state and local law enforcement agencies for the sweep.
How adults may voluntarily surrender:
Adults may turn themselves in at any time at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility, also known as the jail, at 401 S. 4th Av., Minneapolis. Tell the deputy at the front lobby that you would like to turn yourself in. You will be placed under arrest and detained in the jail, where you will be booked. Continued detention will depend on bail amount, release conditions, ability to post bail and the court schedule. It's recommended that you turn yourself in by midnight on regular business days if you prefer to appear in court the following day. Bring a form of government-issued identification with you, necessary prescription medications and cash, if you plan on posting bail.
How juveniles may voluntarily surrender:
Parents and guardians are urged to advise juveniles with active warrants to turn themselves in. Juveniles may surrender at the Juvenile Detention Center, 510 Park Av. S., Minneapolis. It is always open. Some warrants will require that the juvenile be detained and held at the center. Others will require they make a court date, and they will be released. For more information, call the Juvenile Detention Center at 612-348-8122.
How to determine if you have an active warrant:
Visit the Sheriff's Office Warrant Unit at Room 22, Minneapolis City Hall, 350 S. 5th St., Minneapolis. Business hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Bring a photo ID. You may not call to inquire about the status, because your identity must be verified.
How to provide tips:
Anyone with information about a person wanted on a warrant may call 1-888-988-TIPS. People with information about violent offenders or fugitives on Hennepin County's Most Wanted List might be eligible to receive reward money by providing tips to Minnesota Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or at www.crimestoppersmn.org.
