West metro police blotter

CHASKA

WEEK OF OCT. 12

Drunken driving. Someone reported a vehicle in a ditch on Engler Boulevard near Hwy. 41. Police located the vehicle and found that the driver had fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended a short time later and charged with driving while intoxicated, fleeing police on foot and possessing an open bottle of alcohol in a vehicle.

Welfare check. An intoxicated man called police and asked for help. He said he was lost and needed help finding his way home after walking through a swampy area on Manuela Drive. Officers located the man, who was crying and wearing wet clothes. He had a breath-test reading of .232 blood-alcohol content, police said. He was transported to a detox facility.

CORCORAN

OCT. 11

Suspicious activity. Someone called police to report that several people were looking into vehicles with flashlights on the 22200 block of Horseshoe Trail. The reporting party called back to say they were neighbors looking for a lost kitten.

EDINA

OCT. 12

Theft. A global position system was reported stolen out of a golf bag at Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Av.

OCT. 15

Underage drinking. Someone reported to police that there was a vehicle in a parking lot near AMC Theatre at Southdale Center with possible underage drinkers. Police arrested a 20-year-old Hopkins woman for underage drinking and driving and also having an open bottle in a car. A 17-year-old girl was arrested for underage consumption.

OCT. 30

Underage drinking. Police received a report of a juvenile tipping over a portable toilet. Officers located a suspicious vehicle on Golf Terrace and Lakeview Drive. A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were arrested for underage possession of alcohol, juvenile use of tobacco and providing false information to police.

Theft. A woman living in an apartment on the 7300 block of Gallagher Drive reported to police that someone had stolen her underwear from the apartment laundry room.

INDEPENDENCE

OCT. 7

Animal complaint. Someone called police to report that a neighbor's dog had killed a chicken on the 3300 block of Lake Sarah Road. There have been a total of 30 chickens killed in that neighborhood, police said. Police could not locate the owner of the dog, and the dog was impounded. A citation was mailed to the owner along with instructions to purchase a dog license.

MAPLE PLAIN

OCT. 7

Burglary. A camera and jewelry were reported stolen from a home on the 5500 block of Joyce Street.

MEDINA

SEPT. 23

Animal complaint. A resident on the 800 block of Fox Path Court called police to report the smell of gas. An officer arrived and smelled a very strong odor of a skunk.

MINNEAPOLIS

OCT. 6

Burglary. Someone stole a computer and money from a home on the 3200 block of 39th Avenue S., police said. Entry to the home was gained by removing an air-conditioning unit from a window and entering through the window.

PLYMOUTH

OCT. 12

Burglary. A business on the 2400 block of Annapolis Lane was broken into; four computers were stolen.

OCT. 14

Property damage. Police received a report that two boys were throwing small logs at a vehicle that drove by on Northwest Boulevard and County Road 10. The driver of the vehicle grabbed the two boys and held them until police arrived. The boys admitted throwing the logs and said they did it because they were bored. The parents of the boys agreed to pay for the damage.
