ST. LOUIS PARK

Community ed's preschool primer

St. Louis Park Community Education is offering an informational session for parents considering enrolling a child in preschool next fall from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Central Community Center cafeteria, 6300 Walker St.

The session will deal with how to choose a preschool and will detail St. Louis Park Community Education's preschool programs.

No preregistration is required. For more information, call 952-928-6784.

High school presents 'Millie'

The St. Louis Park High School Theatre will present "Thoroughly Modern Millie" Nov. 12 through 22 at the high school auditorium, 6425 W. 33rd St.

The show about a small-town girl trying to make it in the big city during the 1920s will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12, 13, 20 and 21 and at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 22.

General admission tickets will be available at the door at $5 for students and seniors and $7 for adults.

EDEN PRAIRIE

International School open house set

The International School of Minnesota, 6385 Beach Road, Eden Prairie, will hold its Fall Admissions Open House at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12.

The public is invited to tour the school and learn about all grade levels, preschool through grade 12, and the programs ISM has to offer its students.

EDINA

Marching Band in Chicago parade

The Edina High School Hornet Marching Band will perform in this year's McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago.

The parade on Thanksgiving morning will be broadcast nationally on WGN America TV from 8 to 11 a.m. The Edina band is one of 24 participating marching bands this year and the only band from Minnesota.

Film on Sierra Leone a fundraiser at Edina

"Pride of Lions," a documentary film on Sierra Leone and the impact of an 11-year civil war on its people, will be shown at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at Edina High School, 6754 Valley View Road.

The film was written and produced by John and Louise Woehrle, a brother-sister team who are Edina High alumni who witnessed firsthand the suffering caused by war.

The screening, hosted by Edina High's chapter of Amnesty International, is a fundraiser to benefit projects in Sierra Leone through Global Action Foundation. A reception will follow from 9 to 9:30 p.m. Suggested ticket donation will be $5.
