It's a dog-eat-dog world for salesman these days.
So it seems, at least, in the case of a recent altercation between two rival salesmen that left one man with a broken finger and the other facing an assault charge.
The dispute broke out in a Robbinsdale neighborhood on June 18, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday against Jeffery J. Jacobsen.
Police answered an assault call near Quail and 39th avenues N., where they found a man who said he had been selling security systems door-to-door when he was attacked by a rival covering the same turf.
The victim, identified only as C.E. in the complaint, said his attacker -- who was working for a different company -- drove up and started yelling at him, then got out of his vehicle. C.E. said he tried to walk away, but was pushed in the back and knocked to the ground.
Medical records confirmed that the victim broke his finger in the fall, police said.
Police later identified the suspect as Jacobsen, 27, for whom Hennepin County court records list a Bloomington address. Jacobsen has been charged with third-degree felony assault.
