West metro police blotter

CORCORAN

MAY 9

Suspicious vehicle. Officers responded to a call about a person slumped in a vehicle near County Road 116 and County Road 30. An officer located the vehicle and found a newspaper delivery person was taking a short nap.

MAY 11

Theft. A girl who was attending an after-prom party at a home on the 19500 block of Country Circle E reported her purse was stolen. A cell phone, $415 in cash, a debit card, a camera and make-up were in the purse. The report has been forwarded to the Hennepin County Sheriff's office for further investigation.

MAY 12

Civil issue. A homeowner on the 21800 block of Horseshoe Trail called police to complain that boulders purchased for the property had not been delivered. An officer spoke with the person who was to deliver the boulders, who reported being busy with several jobs and promised to contact the homeowner to deliver the boulders.

EDINA

MAY 15

Burglary. Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home on the 5900 block of Oaklawn Avenue. Police found a suspect backing the victim's vehicle out of the driveway at a high rate of speed. A 20-year-old Edina man was arrested for burglary, vehicle theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

MAY 17

Underage consumption. An officer was driving in the area of Gleason Road and McCauley Trail and saw three males walking. When the males saw the officer, they took off running. The officer caught them when they had to stop because of a fence. All three men were 18-year-olds from Edina. They were cited for underage consumption.

INDEPENDENCE

MAY 4

Illegal dumping. Police were called to the 1900 block of County Road 90 because someone had dumped a bike and food garbage bags in a dumpster used as part of a city-wide cleanup. An envelope with an address on it was found among the items. The resident of that address was called and picked up the garbage. Someone else dumped a TV, a bag of concrete mix, a five-gallon paint can and three cardboard boxes of miscellaneous paints in the dumpster. A piece of cardboard box was found bearing a name and address. That individual was called and also came and picked up his garbage.

MINNETRISTA

MAY 9

Missing person. A 5-year-old boy from the 2500 block of Saunders Lake Drive North called police because he could not find his mother. She was found doing yard work outside.

Suspicious person. Police responded to a report of a prowler outside a home along Maple Forest. A 26-year-old Mound man was found and arrested on a felony warrant. Other charges are pending.

PLYMOUTH

APRIL 24

Theft. A vehicle was stolen from a home on the 16400 block of 45th Avenue N. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were inside a backpack that was in the vehicle.

APRIL 30

Underage drinking. Three girls were caught drinking at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, 10635 36th Avenue N. One 14-year-old and two 15-year-olds received citations and school sanctions, police said.

TONKA BAY

MAY 2

Underage consumption. Police received a call about a possible underage drinking party at a home on the 100 block of Clay Cliffe Drive. Officers arrived and found a number of vehicles and in the woods. At the end of a trail they found a crowd of people. Five adults and 11 juveniles were cited for underage consumption. Assistance was provided by the Orono and Deephaven Police Departments as well as the Hennepin County Water Patrol.
