West metro police blotter

CHASKA

JAN. 15

Accident. A woman on Hundertmark Road lost control of her vehicle and struck a school bus. The woman and the bus driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two students were on the bus at the time of the accident, and they were uninjured and released to their parents. Icy road conditions contributed to the crash.

DEEPHAVEN

JAN. 4

Driving complaint. An officer responded to a call on the 18300 block of Minnetonka Boulevard regarding a vehicle spinning around in a parking lot. An officer arrived and found the vehicle stuck in a snowbank. The driver was cited for exhibition driving.

eden prairie

DEC. 20

Drunken driving. A 27-year-old Eden Prairie man was arrested at a McDonald's drive-through, 598 Prairie Center Drive.

HOPKINS

JAN. 12

Disturbance. A woman called police because of a dispute over ice that had been placed in her yard on the 200 block of 16th Avenue N. The woman said her neighbor put ice in her yard so she put it back in the neighbor's yard. The two argued but did not want to speak with an officer.

INDEPENDENCE

JAN. 13

Fire. Police responded to a house fire on the 800 block of County Road 92. No flames were visible but smoke was coming out of the front door and garage. The homeowner was awakened by his cats and smoke detectors. Maple Plain and Loretto fire departments extinguished the fire.

MAPLE PLAIN

JAN. 19

Welfare check. The police received a call to check the welfare of someone and also a report of a stolen dog on the 1500 block of Howard Avenue. The dog was in a closet. Its owner was taken to a detox facility.

MINNETRISTA

JAN. 11

Burglary. A 30-year-old Minnetrista man broke into a home located along County Road 19 and assaulted three people in the home. He was arrested.

PLYMOUTH

JAN. 14

Alcohol compliance check. Police said two businesses failed alcohol compliance checks. Famous Dave's, 11308 Hwy. 55, and Chipotle, 3425 Vicksburg Lane, checked IDs but improperly served alcohol.

JAN. 21

Robbery. A victim was approached by a man at a gas station and asked if he had jumper cables. The victim drove the man to a stalled car and made a stop first. The man said he would like to pay the victim for helping, but only had a $100 bill. The victim stopped at an automated teller machine and took out $100 to make change. The man grabbed the money and ran off near the 180 block of Cheshire Lane.

SHOREWOOD

DEC. 26

Drunken driving. Police received a call about a vehicle in a ditch at Yellowstone Trail and Lake Linden Drive. An officer found a man sleeping in the driver seat with the engine running. A 35-year-old Excelsior man was arrested.

WACONIA

JAN. 10

Underage drinking. Two juveniles were cited on the 1400 block of Beachcomber Boulevard.
