Edina police are looking for two men who ambushed a woman at gunpoint as she returned home Tuesday night, then stuffed her in the trunk of her car and made off with her purse.
The victim, 52, was alone in a garage in the 7300 block of York Ave. S. when the suspects approached around 8:30 p.m. One suspect displayed a handgun. Both suspects pushed the woman into the trunk of her car and closed the lid. They took her purse and fled in a car, said Molly Anderson, a police spokeswoman.
The victim used a trunk release cord to free herself and called police. She was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released, Anderson said.
The suspects used the victim's credit cards to buy gasoline at a filling station in New Hope and merchandise at a store in Savage. It's not known how much they charged or what they bought.
The Edina Crime Prevention Fund is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call 952-826-1600.
