A 27-year-old St. Louis Park man who held up a bank in St. Anthony at gunpoint and led police on a chase through the northern Twin Cities suburbs in March has admitted to that robbery and four others, authorities said Thursday.
Suresh Harlan Small pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in St. Paul to robberies that spanned from Nov. 2, 2007, to March 28.
In the last one, Small robbed a TCF Bank on Silver Lake Road in St. Anthony and then sped away, leading officers on a chase at speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour. Small exchanged gunfire with officers when he was finally stopped at Interstate 494 and Hwy. 55 in Plymouth.
Small also was responsible for two earlier heists at the same TCF bank, as well as holdups at the TCF Bank at 8020 Hwy. 7 in St. Louis Park.
Small faces a potential maximum penalty of 25 years in prison on each bank robbery count. Sentencing has yet to be scheduled.
