Forty years of Christmas Bird Counts show 208 of 305 national bird species moving slowly north. Birds now found farther north in Minnesota include: 

• Tundra swan

• Cardinal

• Red-headed woodpecker

• Bald eagle

• Wild turkey

• Merganser

• Cooper's hawk

• Gadwall
