Kennedy hosts race forum

Kennedy High School will host a community forum titled "It's Time to Talk About Race" from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the school's cafeteria, 9701 Nicollet Av. S.

The forum will engage diverse community members in guided conversations about racism and race relations in America. The event aims to equip participants with the tools and confidence to actively improve race relations in the workplace, in the community and with family and friends.

'Seussical the Musical' at Jefferson

Jefferson Theatre Company will present "Seussical the Musical" at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the Jefferson High School auditorium, 4001 W. 102nd St.

"Seussical" features many beloved Dr. Seuss characters and stories, including Horton the Elephant's endeavors to protect the people of Whoville, who live on a tiny speck of dust. The Cat in the Hat acts as host and narrator of the show but leaps into the action on several occasions.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors and can be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/819080 or at the door one hour before each performance. A preview performance for seniors will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday Tickets for the senior preview performance are $5.

Jefferson Theatre Company is hosting a children's book drive in conjunction with the show to benefit Cornerstone, a Bloomington crisis center that provides safe housing, crisis counseling and programs and services for youth and adults in unsafe environments. Each attendee who donates a new or gently used book will receive a Cat in the Hat bookmark signed by their favorite "Seussical" character.
