Hennepin County commissioners have proposed a nearly $9,000 annual pay raise for County Attorney Mike Freeman.
If approved, his salary would rise by 5 percent to $169,027. It would be his first raise since he returned to the position in 2007. He previously served as county attorney from 1991 to 1999.
Out of the seven metro-county attorneys, Dakota County Attorney Jim Backstrom has the highest salary at $170,283. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi earns $162,529, and Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo makes $155,000.
If the board gives its approval at its meeting next week, the raise will take effect immediately.
