Breck School to host open house Jan. 11

Breck School will host an event for prospective students in grades preschool through 12 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.

Current faculty, parents, students and members of the admissions team will give tours, answer questions and provide information about the application and financial aid processes and many aspects of life at Breck.

Families can watch the robotics team work on its newest project, see the basketball team practice or observe as the mock-trial team rehearses opening statements.

Child care is available for children ages 3 and older.

Jefferson show choirs host annual event

Bloomington Jefferson High School's show choir program will host its 14th annual spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 in the Jefferson cafeteria and auditorium, 4001 W. 102nd St.

The event will feature performances by Jefferson's Connection and JIVE show choirs, as well as a silent auction.

Connection will perform at 5:30, 7:15 and 8:30 p.m., and JIVE will perform at 6 and 7:45 p.m. in the auditorium.

The silent auction, featuring sporting and theater tickets, restaurant gift cards and a variety of gift items, is open for bidding from 5 to 8:15 p.m.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

All proceeds from the event help the program cover travel, training and other expenses during the competition season. Tickets are $8 if purchased in advance from a choir member or $10 at the door.

Robbinsdale

Art exhibit on display at Robbin Gallery

Robbinsdale Area Schools' visual arts program will partner with Robbin Gallery to present the second annual art exhibit of elementary students' artwork.

The exhibit "Art Is Primary" runs now until Jan. 5 and features creations from students from kindergarten through fifth grades, from elementary schools throughout the district.

All community members, families and students are invited to take a gallery walk during Robbin Gallery's regular hours: noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Students should remember to bring their Passport for the Arts packet and receive a stamp for their involvement in viewing the visual arts display.

Eden PRAIRIE

Mosaic program for gifted kids expands

Eden Prairie schools' Mosaic program for highly gifted students is expanding to third and seventh grade for the 2015-16 school year.

The Mosaic program provides challenging curriculum at an accelerated pace, while meeting the unique academic and social-emotional needs of highly gifted learners in a supportive educational environment.

Mosaic's new third-grade program will be offered at Prairie View and Forest Hills elementary schools. Both schools currently serve Mosaic students within grades four through six.

Applications are being accepted online at www.edenpr.org/Page/155. The due date for completed applications is Jan. 30.

Informational meetings for parents will be held Jan. 7 at Prairie View Elementary and Jan. 14 at Forest Hills Elementary. Both meetings will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the media center of each building.

The seventh-grade program will be located at Central Middle School.

Registration and informational meetings for parents will begin in late January.
