Young Scientist to launch fall series

The Young Scientist Roundtable series has announced the fall lineup of speakers designed for students in grades K-12.

Fall's featured topics include air quality engineering, the Ebola outbreak and dentistry.

All presentations are held at Wayzata Central Middle School, 305 Vicksburg Lane, Plymouth, beginning at 7 p.m., followed by a teen roundtable discussion for students in grades 6-12 who would like to discuss the topic in more depth with the speaker.

The programs are open and free to all students.

The fall lineup includes:

• Nov. 11: "Ebola," Dr. Michael Osterholm, director for the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

• Dec. 1: "Facial Surgery: Where Dentistry Meets Medicine," Dr. Deepak Kademani, chief oral and maxillofacial surgery fellowship director at North Memorial Medical Center Humphrey Cancer Center and associate professor at the University of Minnesota.

Blake School to host admission events

The Blake School is hosting several, upcoming admission events where families can learn about the school, its faculty and programs.

On Nov. 1, the Hopkins campus (grades pre-K-8) will have an event from 9 a.m. until noon. The Wayzata campus (pre-K-5) will host an event at the same time. The Hopkins campus is located at 110 Blake Rd. S., the Wayzata campus at 301 Peavey Lane.

On Nov. 8, the Upper School Northrop Campus will host an event from 9 a.m. until noon. That campus, which serves grades 9-12, is located at 511 Kenwood Pkwy., Minneapolis.

Blake invites prospective families to attend its financial assistance workshop on Jan. 10.

All admissions and financial assistance applications must be received by Jan. 31, 2015.

Minnehaha Academy sets admission events

Minnehaha Academy is holding two upcoming events where prospective families are invited to learn more about the school.

The first event will be held at 6:45 p.m. Thursday for students in preK-8 at the academy's Lower and Middle School, located at 4200 West River Pkwy., Minneapolis.

On Monday, the Upper School will host an event for students in grades 9-12 at 6:45 p.m. The Upper School is located at 3100 West River Parkway, Minneapolis.
