The body of one drowning victim has been identified, while a second victim in a separate incident remains unnamed as of Tuesday evening.

A man who drowned Saturday, apparently after slipping off a dock in Wright County, has been identified as Dennis Venske, 53, of Winsted, Minn.

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, the Wright County Sheriff's Office received a call of a possible drowning at the Dog Lake public access in Woodland Township.

The caller reported that a man in his mid-50s had been fishing off the dock located at the public access when he apparently fell into the water, the sheriff's office said.

The man appeared to be struggling, went underwater, and failed to resurface, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office recovered the body about 7:45 p.m. in 6 to 10 feet of water.

In a second incident, a fisherman called police around 6 a.m. Tuesday from Lake Independence in Maple Plain after spotting something suspicious in the water.

Authorities found the body of an elderly man and his wheelchair near a dock area. Foul play is not suspected, Hennepin County officials said.

The man's name was not released.
