Free public forum on the emerald ash borer
Wayzata’s Public Works Department will host a free public forum on the emerald ash borer on Saturday, April 26.
The event takes place from 9-11 a.m. at City Hall. The focus will be on how Wayzata residents can prepare for the arrival of the emerald ash borer, an invasive beetle that infests and kills all species of ash trees. A certified arborist will also take questions.
An emerald ash borer infestation is about nine miles away from Wayzata, and the city says it’s only a matter of time before Wayzata’s ash trees will be at risk.
The city has identified and rated 430 ash trees on city right-of-ways and city parks. For more information, go to www.wayzata.org.
