School cast to present 'Steel Magnolias'

Orono High School will present "Steel Magnolias" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, and Friday, Feb. 28, and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1.

All tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.

The cast includes Sarah Bezenar as Truvy, Etta Moline as Annelle, Leah Walk as Miss Clairee, and Eleanor Fossen as Ouiser, with Madison Adams playing M'Lynn and Maighread Shaughnessy as Shelby.

Jan Engelhardt directs the production and Katherine Odland stage-manages the show.

Wanted: Prodigy Award nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the Education Foundation of Bloomington 2014 Prodigy Awards, which recognize teamwork that improves education.

Prodigy Awards will be presented to one group of colleagues that demonstrate outstanding teamwork in each of the following categories: administrative teamwork (administrators and support staff of schools and the district office) and staff teamwork (all other nonadministrative staff; may include parent volunteers, students or community members as part of the group).

Co-workers, parents and community members are invited to submit nominations for the awards.

Nomination forms are due by 4 p.m. April 25 and can be found at www.educationfoundationofbloomington.org/prodigy-awards.

Eden Prairie

High school college fair set for March 19

Eden Prairie High School will host a free Minnesota Education Fair from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, in the school's Activities Center.

All area students and families are welcome.

Representatives of more than 110 regional colleges, universities, community colleges, military organizations and specialty schools will attend. For a complete list of schools attending the fair, go to www.mn-acac.org.

Also, avoid filling out multiple contact information cards at the booths by pre-registering at www.gotocollegefairs.com. Print a bar code to bring with you, and school representatives will scan your code and capture your information.

Blessed Trinity plans Science/Math Night

Blessed Trinity will hold a Science and Math Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.

The annual event is an opportunity to learn more about science and math activities, especially kindergarten through third grade. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., along with a special presentation about engineering.

There is no cost for this event, but RSVP by calling 612-866-6906.

Blessed Trinity's Penn Campus is located at 7540 Penn Av. S. in Richfield, just off Interstate 494 at the Penn Avenue exit.
