Barnes & Noble book fair set for Saturday

Barnes & Noble in Minnetonka is hosting a book fair from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, with a percentage of the day's total sales to be donated to North Junior High and West Junior High to buy books for media centers and classrooms.

Upon checking out, participants should present a coupon that can be downloaded at either school's website. Those who cannot attend in person can participate by purchasing an order online at www.BN.com/bookfairs using the ID 11223997 at the checkout.

The online sale is open until Friday. The participating Barnes & Noble is located at 13131 Ridgedale Drive in Minnetonka.

Royal Page, Echo win Pacemaker awards

The Hopkins High School newspaper, the Royal Page, and the St. Louis Park High School newspaper, the Echo, have won 2013 Pacemaker awards from the National Scholastic Press Association.

The association presented 70 Pacemaker awards, the highest honor it gives, at its national convention. The two papers were the only winners from Minnesota.

The staff of the Miami Herald selected the Pacemaker finalists and award winners based on the following criteria: coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership on the opinion page, design, overall layout, photography and graphics.

Eden Prairie

Girls' gymnastics camp scheduled for Dec. 14

Girls ages 4 to 12 are invited to the high school Gymnastics Day Camp on Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. No gymnastic experience is required.

Each girl will be placed in a group with similar skills, and every girl will receive a gymnastics super fan T-shirt, craft, snack and free entry to an Eden Prairie High School Eagles gymnastics home meet.

This is a fundraiser for the high school's gymnastics program, and proceeds will go toward the purchase of equipment and gym support. The cost for the camp is $40.
