MacPhail Center names Teen Council The MacPhail Center for Music has announced its new Teen Advisory Council to help identify and design MacPhail programs for teens. DFL plans fall feast at Eden Wood Sunday
The Senate District 48 DFL Fall Feast will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Eden Wood Conference Center and Retreat, 6350 Indian Chief Road, Eden Prairie.
The organizers expect elected officials, candidates and supporters to attend, and there will be a buffet with appetizers, pork loin and Southern sides, chicken breasts and vegetarian lasagna, plus a cash bar. The event also will include a silent auction.
Suggested donations are $15 per adult, $40 per family of up to five people, $5 per child ages 3-12 and free for children under age 3. For more information or to RSVP, go to www.dfl48.org.
GOP seniors to hear from Rep. Garofalo
Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, will be the guest speaker at the Republican Seniors of Minnesota luncheon meeting on Tuesday. He will discuss state education policy and funding.
The Republican Seniors meet the first Tuesday of each month at Poor Richard’s Commonhouse, 8301 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with a business session and coffee, followed by a guest speaker. Lunch is at noon. There is a minimum charge of $3 for members and guests not ordering lunch.

A parade in Plymouth
The 16th-annual Plymouth on Parade will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with an 11:30 a.m. parade followed by entertainment and family activities from 1 to 3 p.m.
The parade, which will proceed down Plymouth Boulevard from 34th to 37th avenues, will feature bands, the Zuhrah Shrine Steel Drum Band, the Minneapolis Aqua Jesters, the Twin Cities Unicycle Club and the female stilt-walking group Chicks on Sticks.
Free family activities will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. As part of Plymouth on Parade, a firefighter 5K run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Fire Station II, 12000 Old Rockford Road. A kids’ fun run will be held at 10 a.m. For more information, call 763-509-5200.
Firefighter 5K to raise money for association
The Plymouth Fire Department will hold its ninth annual Firefighter 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Saturday beginning at Fire Station II, 12000 Old Rockford Road A half- or full-mile kids’ fun run will take place at 10 a.m.
Race-day registration and check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. Participants will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt. The top three finishers — from the men, women and firefighter categories — will receive awards, as will the fire department with the most participants. Children will receive a gift as they cross the finish line.
